SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., October 13, 2026 – Attorney Anh Phoong of Phoong Law has pledged $100,000 to San Francisco Pride. SF Pride shared the news in its October 9 newsletter, as reported by the Bay Area Reporter.
The pledge arrives at an important moment for the organization, which is working to raise funds after some sponsors did not participate this year.
“Pride has always belonged to everyone, and I want to help keep it free and open to every person who wants to be part of it,” said Anh Phoong, attorney at Phoong Law. “Standing with the LGBTQ community is something I care about deeply, in San Francisco and beyond. I hope this pledge encourages others to give whatever they can, because every contribution helps.”
Closing a Funding Gap
According to SF Pride officials, some sponsors stepped back this year, while others stepped up, including individual donors. The organization says its finances are moving in the right direction, but it still needs support now.
“We have measurably improved our financial performance year-over-year,” officials stated in the newsletter. “Still, keeping our main celebration completely free and accessible to all while scaling our organizational infrastructure and expanding year-round initiatives, like our grant-giving Community Partners Program, takes resources we have to raise now.”
The newsletter also noted that the city has pledged to support Pride at a historic level starting in 2027. Until then, SF Pride says it faces a crucial funding gap today.
To date, SF Pride’s online fundraiser has brought in almost $103,000 of its $500,000 goal.
New Leadership for SF Pride
The same October 9 newsletter announced new leadership for the board that oversees the San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration Committee. Michelle Meow, longtime host of “The Michelle Meow Show,” has been selected as board president. It is a homecoming of sorts for Meow, who previously led the SF Pride board from 2016 to 2018.
Joining Meow as officers are Maceo Persson, vice president; Ronnie Jones, secretary; and Orion Lam, treasurer. Joshua Smith, who had served as board president, was termed out. Rounding out the board of directors are Iowayna Peña, Jack Beck, Jupiter Peraza, Nicky Calma (also known as Tita Aida), and Sam Favela, program director at the Transgender District.
How to Support SF Pride
The next San Francisco Pride celebration takes place June 26-27, 2027. Community members, businesses, and organizations who want to help keep the celebration free and accessible can donate through SF Pride’s online fundraiser. For more information about the annual event, visit sfpride.org.
