Will my family or anyone else find out?

What if it happened years ago, or when I was a child?

You may still have options. Nevada law provides important protections for survivors of sexual assault and abuse, but filing deadlines can vary depending on the facts of the case. The only way to understand your specific legal options is to ask. A confidential consultation is free, and there is no obligation.

Do I have to go to court or face the person who hurt me?

In the vast majority of cases, no. Most civil sexual assault cases are resolved through negotiated settlements and never see the inside of a courtroom. If your case ever did go to trial, we would prepare you fully and stand beside you every step of the way, but most of our clients never have to.

What if I never reported it to the police?

Many survivors never reported, and that does not prevent you from bringing a civil case. Civil cases are about accountability and compensation, they are separate from criminal cases. You do not need a police report, a conviction, or even a witness to pursue a civil claim.
