Phoong Law is committed to giving back to the community through our giveaways, but unfortunately, we’ve seen an increase in fake social media accounts impersonating our law firm, especially on Facebook and Instagram.
These scammers may comment on giveaway posts or send direct messages claiming that a user has “won” and ask for personal information. Please be aware: these are not legitimate communications from Phoong Law.
How to Tell if It’s Really Us
We only contact giveaway winners in the following way:
✅ Directly via email
✅ From an official @phoonglaw.com email address
❌ Never through Facebook or Instagram comments or DMs
❌ Never requesting private information such as:
Credit card numbers
Social Security numbers
Home addresses
Banking details
How to Spot a Fake Phoong Law Account
Scammers create copycat Facebook pages that try to impersonate our firm. Here are common red flags to help you identify them:
Newly created account
Fake pages are often created just days before they begin contacting users. (Example: created on April 5 with no history.)
Very few likes or followers
Legitimate business pages will have an established audience. Fakes typically have 2 to 10 followers or even zero.
No meaningful activity
They often have no posts, photos, or real engagement beyond fake giveaway replies.Generic or misleading bios
They might list the correct category (e.g. “Lawyer & Law Firm”) but provide no real details or reviews.
Poor grammar and excessive emojis
Posts and comments may include all-caps messages like “🎉CONGRATULATIONS🎉” and link out to shady third-party URLs.Use of third-party short links
Impersonators often send links through services like shorturl.at, which can hide malicious destinations. We always use our official domain phoonglaw.com.
Asking for verification steps that don’t make sense
They may instruct users to:Click external links
Comment “DONE”
Send screenshots or personal info to confirm their entry
Commenting directly on giveaway posts
They’ll reply to real user comments pretending to be us, often saying something like:“Visit our page to claim your prize!”

No verification badge
Fake accounts do not have the blue verification checkmark that confirms our official page (We are working with Facebook to add this).Sure sign it’s fake is when you’re on our Facebook page and the link in the comments takes you to another Phoong Law Facebook page.
What to Do If A Fake Account contacts you
If someone claims you’ve won a giveaway and asks for personal info:
Do not respond.
Do not click on any links or provide any personal details.
Report the account directly through the platform:
Go to the profile
Tap the three dots (•••)
Select “Report” > “Pretending to be someone”
