Phoong Law has teamed up with Sacramento’s Chloé Cà Phê & Roastery on a limited-edition coffee called The Verdict. From October through December 31, 2026, $5 from every bag sold goes to My Sister’s House, the Sacramento nonprofit that shelters and supports women and children leaving domestic violence.

The timing is on purpose. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the fundraiser runs through the end of the year, so the help keeps coming after the awareness campaigns wrap up.

“I bet you didn’t see this coming, but if you know me, you know I love giving back and lifting up my community.”

Anh Phoong

Why My Sister’s House

My Sister’s House has worked in the Sacramento region since 2001. It runs the only domestic violence shelter in the Central Valley built specifically for Asian and Pacific Islander women and children, a community where language barriers and family pressure can keep people from asking for help. Families fleeing domestic violence, sexual assault or human trafficking can stay at its safe haven for up to 90 days, with food, supplies and case management while they get back on their feet.

The shelter is only part of it. The organization also runs a 24/7 multilingual help line and a Women to Work program that helps survivors of every background find steady jobs, and it does outreach and education across the region.

It is a cause Anh has cared about for a long time. Much of the firm’s work starts with someone on the worst day of their life, and she has always believed that a safe place to land matters as much as anything that happens in a courtroom.

Meet Chloé Cà Phê & Roastery

Chloé Cà Phê is a family business. Husband and wife Charley Phung and Crystal Huynh-Kim run the roastery and named it after their daughter, Chloé. Coffee runs in Crystal’s family: her parents opened Café Chiều Tím, one of Sacramento’s earliest Vietnamese coffee shops, in the late 1980s.

The roastery buys directly from farming families in Vietnam who have grown coffee for generations, and pays them above fair-trade prices. That work has been noticed well beyond Sacramento. As Anh puts it in the video, Chloé Cà Phê is the first Vietnamese brand ever featured by La Marzocco Home, the home side of the Italian espresso machine maker.

About The Verdict

The name is a nod to the courtroom, and so is the recipe. The Verdict is an even 50/50 blend of two Vietnamese coffees: a salt-fermented Fine Robusta from Nam Ban, Lâm Đồng, and a Liberica from Hướng Phùng in Quảng Trị that rests through a 180-hour fermentation. Most coffee drinkers have never tasted Liberica. The Robusta brings body and dark chocolate; the Liberica brings fruit. Neither one leads. In Chloé’s words, “the cup is the verdict.”

It is made for a traditional phin filter with condensed milk, but it also works as espresso or pour over. A bag is $25.

How to get a bag

Every bag sold through December 31, 2026, sends $5 to My Sister’s House. It also makes an easy holiday gift for the coffee person in your life. If you would rather give directly, you can donate to My Sister’s House here.

Part of a bigger commitment

The Verdict joins a growing list of local partnerships for Phoong Law, from Purple Promise with the Sacramento Kings to this summer’s Backpack Giveback school supply drive. If your Sacramento organization is looking for a community partner, you can reach our community team here.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, the My Sister’s House help line is open 24 hours a day, in multiple languages: (916) 428-3271. In an emergency, call 911.
